One row, and it is
the one you actually use
Linear adds a single row to the palette, deliberately. The issue you meant to file gets lost in the trip to the browser, not in the typing, so the integration removes the trip and nothing else. What Khint contributes on top is the writing: a title and a description drafted from your selection rather than a paste of it.

Create a personal API key
In Linear, open Settings and create a personal API key. It carries your own access, so there is nothing for an admin to approve.
Turn Linear on in Khint's Integrations page
Paste the key and Save. It goes into your operating system's keychain, never into a config file on disk.
Pick your default team
Khint fetches your teams live and you choose the one new issues land in. You can change it whenever you like from the same card.
File from anywhere
Select text in any app, press Cmd+Shift+K, choose Create Linear ticket from selection. Khint writes the issue, shows you the preview, files it, and logs it to your session.
Create Linear issue is also available as a workflow step, including inside a parallel step that files to Linear and posts to Slack from the same text at once.
What it is allowed to do
Your key, your machine
The API key lives in your operating system's keychain and the GraphQL calls go from your Mac straight to Linear. Khint's backend never sees the key.
It acts as you
A personal API key carries your own permissions, so Khint reaches exactly the teams and issues your account can already open. There is no workspace-level install and nothing for an admin to grant.
You see it before it is filed
The drafted title and description are shown as a preview first. Nothing reaches Linear until you accept it.
It creates, it does not edit
Create is the only write. Khint will not transition, reassign or close your issues, and it will not rewrite a description that is already there.
Pause keeps the key
Turning the card off pauses the integration: the row leaves the palette and workflows stop using it, but the key stays for an instant reconnect. Forget credentials is the separate destructive button.
Reading is a separate opt-in
Linear is indexed by Knowledge only if you switch that source on, and only into a local index on your Mac. Turning it off deletes that copy on the spot.
Common questions about Linear and Khint
Why is there only one Linear row?
Because it is the one that removes a trip. Filing an issue means leaving the app you are in, finding the tab, and retyping something you already wrote; reading Linear rarely does. The read side is covered differently: switch Linear on in Knowledge and your issues are indexed locally, so an agent can search them without a palette row at all.
Do I need a Linear admin or a workspace app?
No. You create a personal API key in your own Linear settings and paste it into Khint. Nothing is installed into the workspace, no OAuth app is registered, and the key carries only your own access.
What does filing an issue cost?
The Linear call is free. Drafting the title and description is one normal agent run against your monthly credits, the same as any other action. Picking the team costs nothing.
Can I file into a team other than my default?
The default team is what the palette row files into, and you can change it at any time from the Linear card. Inside a workflow, the Create Linear issue step pins its own team, so different chains can file into different teams.
Does Khint store my Linear issues?
Only if you switch Knowledge on for Linear, and then only in a local full-text index on your Mac that never reaches our servers. Toggling the source off, or forgetting the credentials, deletes that index immediately.
